Actors may come and go but bollywood can never forget Big B Amitabh and his dances. Film makers use his dialogues and songs to attract movie lovers. Some time back Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Riteish Deshmukh grooved to the remixed version of Amitabh Bachchan’s hit song Apni to jaise taise in their film, Housefull (2010) and now Sanjay Dutt along with South Hunk Rana Daggubati will be dancing to the tune of of Big B’s iconic track Thodi si jo pi li hai in their upcoming film, Department.
Ganesh Acharya choreographed the song who used Big B’s signature moves in some of the sequences. “Like millions of fans, I have always been a huge fan of Thodi si jo peeli from Namak Halaal and I felt, to picturise it on Sanjay Dutt, will be a fitting tribute to Mr Bachchan’s classic masterpiece,” says Ram Gopal Varma, producer of the film. The track has been sung by Sukhwinder Singh.
Filming of the song is taking place in a setup where Dutt and Daggubati, who play cops in the movie, go to a club to party. Sources from the film sets say that Dutt has given a splendid performance and after a long gap, audience would see him dancing his heart out. Contrary to speculation, Varma insists that there’s no similarity between Big B’s role in Sarkar (2005) and Department, despite the actor looking similar in both films.
“(Except) For the hair similarity of Amitji in Department and Sarkar, there’s absolutely no similarity between the two characters,” says RGV, adding that Bachchan plays a ‘nasty’ role in Department. “For want of a better word, I think Amitji is playing a nasty sarkar in Department,” he says. The film will release on May 18.
