Amitabh Bachchan will lend his voice to the lead characters in three animated films as AB Corp has sealed a three-film deal with a Kerala-based animation house
Amitabh Bachchan is versatile star and there is no stopping him from exploring new avenues, even at the ripe age of 67. Besides hosting Bigg Boss 3, promoting Paa and cutting a devotional album, he is all set to do something new.
Amitabh Bachchan will lend his famous baritone voice to a cartoon character. He has played the narrator in films like Jodhaa Akbar and Lagaan and even lent his voice to an internationally popular French documentary on Penguins.
A source tells us, ‘His production house, AB Corp has inked a three-film deal with a Kerala-based production house called Toonz Animation. Amitabh will do the voiceover for the lead character. The films will be made for children and stories that have universal appeal will be chosen.’
He adds, ‘The first film will be shot in January 2010. It is about twin alien characters and will be called 1+1=0 Twinenergy. The budget for the movie is 25 crore. Bachchan Senior will voice both characters. He is someone who appeals to children as he has done movies like Bhootnath and Aladin which appealed to children.’
The other two films are in the pre-production stage and will be released in late 2010. All three films will be marketed by Turner International so they will reach audiences across the globe.
In the past, Shah Rukh Khan lent his voice to Mr. Incredible in the Hindi version of the Pixar film, Akshay Kumar, Dimple Kapadia and Lara Dutta brought the characters of Jumbo to life, Kareena Kapoor, Jaaved Jaaferi and Saif Ali Khan lent their voices to the dogs in Roadside Romeo. None of these films have been particularly successful. Let us hope Mr. Bachchan’s venture fares better.
